Officers of Old Tbilisi Police Main Division of Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested a person with previous conviction for theft.

The investigation established that the accused person secretly took possession of the keys to a car and wallet belonging to an acquaintance in Tbilisi. Later on, he illegally drove the car from the parking lot and left the scene of the incident.

Shortly after committing the crime, the accused person caused a traffic accident with the stolen vehicle, abandoned the car at the scene and fled.

As a result of immediate operational measures and investigative actions carried out by law enforcement officers, the man was arrested. The stolen car and wallet were seized as evidence.

The investigation is underway under Article 177 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, envisioning the imprisonment for up to 10 years.
