Chairman of the Georgian Parliament begins official meetings in Luxembourg starting today. Face-to-face and expanded format meetings are scheduled between Shalva Papuashvili and the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

The Georgian parliamentary delegation also includes the Chairs of the Foreign Relations, European Integration, and Procedural Issues committees.

Chairman of the European Integration Committee of the Parliament, Levan Makhashvili, spoke about important issues of bilateral and multilateral relations with European partners. According to him, Georgia demands only a fair attitude from the European Union.

“We will have the opportunity to discuss all issues that are of interest in either bilateral or multilateral relations. Of course, Georgia-Brussels relations will also be important, especially since the EU Foreign Affairs Council is scheduled to meet in Luxembourg in a few days. This is a very good opportunity for us; while Brussels has decided to keep its doors closed at this stage, we can speak with EU member states about all the problematic issues that were behind the closing of this door and its reasons in the past.

Our main message, of course, is for the European Union to have a fair attitude toward Georgia. Georgia does not ask for any special, privileged treatment, exceptional conditions, or a shortcut on the path to EU membership. Georgia demands a fair attitude, under which a normal, constructive dialogue will, of course, be possible”, - said Levan Makhashvili.
