Speaker of the Georgian Parliament speaks about foreign interference, stating that respect for a sovereign choice is a European value that today’s Brussels is trampling upon.

As he noted, the 2024 elections in Georgia and the events unfolding in other nations show that the European Union is grossly interfering in the elections of both candidate and member states.

“This in itself shows one thing: what they talk about in relation to European values - and if there is anything that truly constitutes a European value, it includes respect for the sovereignty of another country and the sovereign choice of its people. Today’s Brussels is directly trampling upon this by interfering in elections. The 2024 elections are the best example of this, where they grossly interfered in the Georgian elections using exactly those methods - as they themselves like to say, “Russian methods” - and since then, we have seen interference in other elections as well, not only in candidate countries but also in the elections of member states”, - said Shalva Papuashvili.
