Foreign Minister of Georgia expressed hope that the upcoming presentation of credentials by Georgia’s Ambassador to Germany will create an opportunity for a “positive reset” in bilateral relations.
She responded on the scheduling of Aleksandre Kartozia’s credentials ceremony with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, as well as the removal from the German Federal Foreign Office’s website of the page that had identified Salome Zourabichvili as incumbent President of Georgia.
“Germany is an important partner for Georgia and it is very important to normalize our relations, which unfortunately have recently been marked by a predominantly negative dynamic for various reasons. I will not go into those reasons now.
However, I hope that our Ambassador’s presentation of credentials, together with the arrival of Germany’s new Ambassador to Georgia, will provide an opportunity for relations between our countries to return to a normal framework and develop in a way that serves the interests of both Georgia and Germany”, - said Maka Botchorishvili.
