In June, employees of the National Forestry Agency detected 72 cases of violations

In June of this year, employees of the National Forestry Agency detected 72 cases of violations, of which 57 cases involved illegal logging, including illegal timber transportation.

In total, up to 39 cubic meters of illegally obtained firewood and timber of various species were seized and stored in the Forestry Agency's timber yards. Nationwide, out of the total cases of illegal logging, 8 violations were detected in Imereti, 15 in Samtskhe-Javakheti, 3 in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti, 10 in the Kvemo Kartli region, 12 in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 5 in Guria, 8 in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, 8 in Kakheti, and 3 in the Shida Kartli region.

It is noteworthy that 5 of the violations show signs of a criminal offense; consequently, the materials have been forwarded to the relevant investigative agencies for further inquiry.

Additionally, 14 cases of unauthorized occupation of state forest lands were detected across the Imereti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Kakheti, and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti regions. Furthermore, 1 unregistered sawmill was uncovered in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region.

Nationwide, employees of the National Forestry Agency detected 391 cases of illegal logging during the first six months of the year.
