The official visit of the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia to Bratislava continues. Shalva Papuashvili met with his Slovak counterpart. They discussed relations between the two countries and ways to deepen cooperation in both face-to-face and expanded formats.
Following the meeting, joint statements were made to the media.
“Slovakia’s position is important, which fully coincides with our approach to the current situation with Brussels that the path of confrontation chosen by Brussels is wrong, and the only path worthy of the European Union is the path of dialogue, which the Government of Georgia is offering to Brussels. Unfortunately, we see a stone wall from the Brussels bureaucracy.
Therefore, I hope that with the support of Slovakia and similar friends, we will be able to stop the confrontational tone coming from Brussels and move to the dialogue stage. Slovakia particularly appreciates and pays attention to Georgia’s role as a bridge between Europe and Asia. We agreed to further strengthen the role of inter-parliamentary relations”, - said Shalva Papuashvili.
