We are pleased that the law enforcement agencies are headed by people who are distinguished by professionalism and integrity - Prime Minister

Prime Minister of Georgia introduced the new Head of the State Security Service [SSSG] to the agency`s employees. Irakli Kobakhidze highlighted Geka Geladze`s productive work in the position of Minister of Internal Affairs and wished him success in his role as the head of the State Security Service.

As Prime Minister noted, Mamuka Mdinaradze will take the position of State Minister for the Coordination of Law Enforcement Agencies and Vice Prime Minister, fulfilling in a formalized manner the functions he previously performed from a different position.

"This will strengthen the performance of the structures and the Government as a whole. I would like to thank Mr. Mamuka for the significant work carried out during this period, as a result of which the SSSG has been qualitatively strengthened and continues to grow stronger. Through his lobbying, the service`s budget has significantly increased - practically doubled - which directly impacts the improvement of conditions for the SSSG employees, as well as the enhancement of the service`s material and technical base.

I would like to officially introduce the new head of the service, Mr. Geka Geladze. I want to highlight the numerous changes implemented in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Many problems had accumulated over the years, and you know how great Mr. Geka`s successes were in various fundamental areas. We often talk about difficult fields, such as organized crime and drug-related crime; also, many changes were implemented regarding migration.

Approaches and policies have fundamentally changed, and the public sees the results. I want to congratulate him on his appointment as the head of the SSSG. He is not new to this service; therefore, he knows very well how this system operates.

In general, when speaking about our government team, two criteria are decisive for us when appointing someone to a position: professionalism, which is particularly important in law enforcement agencies, and integrity. In this case, too, when personnel decisions were made, the entire team took these two criteria into careful consideration. Today, we are pleased that the law enforcement agencies are headed by people who are distinguished precisely by their professionalism and integrity", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
