Israel backs Trump’s blockade threat, Netanyahu says

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel supports Donald Trump’s plans to blockade Iranian ports, writes Sky News.

US Central Command said the blockade on vessels entering and exiting the ports would begin from 3pm UK time today.

Speaking at a cabinet meeting today, Netanyahu said Trump issued his threat because Iran “violated the rules” during marathon peace talks with the US which collapsed at the weekend: “President Trump decided to impose a naval blockade on them. We of course support this firm position, and we are fully coordinated with the United States at all times”.

Netanyahu said JD Vance briefed him after the marathon discussions in Pakistan failed to result in a deal. The US vice president called him from his plane after leaving Islamabad, he said, and “made clear that the central issue is the removal of all enriched material and ensuring that there is no more enrichment”.
