We will have to sit down at the negotiating table with the Russian president. The geographical position of neither Russia nor Hungary will change - Magyar

The new government of Hungary will negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Péter Magyar, leader of the opposition Tisza party, which is leading in the parliamentary elections, said in an interview with Népszava.

“We will have to sit down at the negotiating table with the Russian president. The geographical position of neither Russia nor Hungary will change. Our energy dependence will also remain for some time. Diversification needs to be strengthened, but this will not happen instantly. If necessary, we will negotiate, but we will not become friends”, - Magyar said.

Thus he commented on the words of current Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who warned that Tisza, if it wins the elections, would form a “pro-Ukrainian government”, and promised to monitor its negotiations with Moscow.

In the same interview, Magyar called for this issue to be taken seriously and expressed doubt that Orbán made this statement in earnest: “No one wants a pro-Ukrainian government in Hungary. Everyone wants a pro-Hungarian one”.
