The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan has begun a state visit to Georgia. An official welcoming ceremony was held in honour of Ilham Aliyev at the Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport.

Georgia`s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Botchorishvili, greeted the Azerbaijani President at the airport.

During his visit, Ilham Aliyev is scheduled to meet with Georgian President and Prime Minister.

An official reception for the Azerbaijani leader will take place at the Georgian Presidential Palace, followed by a bilateral meeting between Mikheil Kavelashvili and Ilham Aliyev. Irakli Kobakhidze will host the guest at the Government Administration. The two leaders will hold both bilateral and expanded discussions, after which they will address the media with joint statements.

As part of his visit, Ilham Aliyev will lay a wreath at the Heroes` Memorial in Heroes Square and pay tribute to the memory of Azerbaijan`s national leader, Heydar Aliyev.
