Georgia’s national team is leading 2:0 against Israel, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scoring both goals.

The Georgian national team is playing its first match of the year. The game began with a minute of silence in memory of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II.

Willy Sagnol’s squad is facing the Israeli national team at the Mikheil Meskhi Arena in Tbilisi.

Today’s match brought news to the Georgian football world. Following Guram Kashia’s retirement, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia led the national team onto the pitch as captain. Otar Kiteishvili has been named vice-captain.
