Chairman of the Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee summarized the meetings held in the US Congress.

“We concluded our meetings in Congress. Our final meeting was with Congressman Keith Self, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Europe. Over the course of the day, we also met with Randy Fine, Mike Turner, Ryan Zinke, and Anna Paulina Luna.

The principal theme running through all our conversations was, once again, Georgian-US relations, the restoration of those relations to good health and their advancement to a new stage. We also addressed a wide array of other issues, primarily focusing on security concerns, regional developments, and the question of occupation.

Congress members shared their assessments of the ongoing situation in Iran. There was also significant interest in the progress of the Middle Corridor and Georgia’s strategic role within it.

All told, we had genuinely substantive and engaging conversations. We asked the Congress members to examine carefully those legislative initiatives that certain of their colleagues periodically put forward, initiatives that are plainly anti-Georgian in character, so that the positive momentum now visible in our relations should not be allowed to suffer”, - said Nikoloz Samkharadze.
