He is well-acquainted with our region. We discussed the current state of Georgian-US relations, expressed our readiness to start a strategic partnership from a clean slate - Samkharadze on the meeting with Senator Daines

The current state of Georgian-American relations, as well as future prospects were discussed in a meeting between Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament, and the US Senator Steve Daines, as part of the Georgian parliamentary delegation’s visit to Washington to participate in a conference organised under the auspices of the Alliance of Sovereign Nations.

"We started our meetings in the US. Our first meeting was with Senator Daines, who is well acquainted with our region.

We discussed the current state of Georgian-US relations as well as future prospects. We also expressed our desire and readiness to begin a new chapter in the strategic partnership between Georgia and the US. Senator underlined the importance of a strong economic component in building a strategic partnership. He highlighted the need not only for robust bilateral economic and trade relations between Georgia and the US, but also for Georgia to be seen as a transit hub and a regional center.

We had a very interesting exchange of views and hope that in the near future our importance will become even more pronounced.

During the visit, we will hold discussions with representatives of the executive branch, as well as other members of Congress. We will also have the opportunity to visit analytical centers, where discussions will be held on developments in Georgia, the South Caucasus, and the broader region", - said Nikoloz Samkharadze.
