As a result of police operations conducted at different times, officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested 5 people on charges of drug crimes.

They are accused of illegally purchasing and storing a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and facilitating their sale. Among the detainees are both Georgian and foreign citizens.

As a result of searching the defendants’ personal belongings, cars and residential buildings, as well as during the investigative experiment, law enforcement officers seized a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs for sale from the places indicated by them as evidence, including: methadone, opium, marijuana and the psychotropic substance “ketamine”.

As a result of the investigative actions, the police also seized materials necessary for the packaging narcotics and cash allegedly received from the sale of narcotics.

The investigation is underway under Articles 260, 260-4 and 261 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
