Today we are officially presenting a very important initiative - the Georgia Economic Development Corporation. With its creation, another very powerful, strong instrument is being formed to strengthen cooperation between the state and business and for the rapid development of the economy. The Prime Minister of Georgia said in his speech at the presentation of the Georgia Economic Development Corporation.
As he noted, as a result of the authorities’ correct economic policy, the country’s economy is developing at a rapid pace; consequently, the capabilities of the private sector are also growing, and this process requires further support.
“This progress that we have in the economic sphere was given a significant stimulus by the creation of the agency “Enterprise Georgia” in 2014, which brought concrete, tangible results. In the years 2014–2025, more than 20,000 entrepreneurs benefited from government programs; an investment of up to 8.5 billion GEL was carried out, and approximately 90,000 jobs were created. The number of people employed in the small and medium-sized business sector increased from 405,000 to 544,000; product output exceeded 54 billion GEL, up from 14.8 billion. The labor remuneration in medium-sized companies rose from 998 to 2,760 GEL. This figure even exceeds the remuneration rate of those employed in large corporations. The export volume of small and medium enterprises increased from USD 1.3 to USD 2.7 billion.
To maintain these achievements, we need a broader and longer-term vision. Along with the strengthening of business, it is necessary to expand the scale of state support as well. That is precisely why, by combining the knowledge and financial resources accumulated across various agencies, we formed the Georgia Economic Development Corporation. This change is not merely a structural transformation. Our goal is to make the support for entrepreneurs even more coordinated and result-oriented”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
