Officers of Marneuli Police Division of Kvemo Kartli Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested 3 people in Marneuli Municipality on charges of forced marriage of a family member and domestic violence, on two separate counts.

The investigation established that the defendants, citing intolerance for the equality of men and women, forced their children, including minors, to marry men from their villages against their will. As a result of the operational measures and investigative actions taken, law enforcement officers arrested all three perpetrators of the crime.

The investigation is underway under Articles 11(1), 150 (1), and 126(1) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, envisioning the imprisonment for up to 4 years.
