Svetitskhovloba is a day that serves as a reminder of who we are, where we come from, and the values upon which our future must stand. The President of Georgia said this at Svetitskhoveli Cathedral.

“Dear compatriots, I congratulate you on the grand feast day of Svetitskhovloba. Today we are gathered in Mtskheta, our primary spiritual capital, on this ancient land where centuries ago through the preaching of Saint Nino and the intercession of King Mirian and Queen Nana, the unbreakable foundation of the Christian faith was laid.

The greatest relic of the Christian world, the Seamless Robe of Christ, reposes here, alongside other holy relics. Svetitskhoveli, the pillar connecting heaven and earth, the principal cathedral of our Mother Church, is the primary symbol of our national identity, survival, and eternity.

Svetitskhovloba reminds us once more of who we are, where we come from, and the values upon which our future must stand. It is especially symbolic that we celebrate this grand feast day in the year when Georgia marks the 1,700th anniversary of Christianity’s declaration as the state religion; this milestone prompts us once more to reflect that our history and our spiritual choice are inseparable.

Today, when the modern world stands before complex challenges, it is especially important to cherish our spiritual foundations and deeply internalise them. We need unity, peaceful coexistence, and a shared effort to further strengthen Christian values within our state.
