As of 9 October, 219 525 tonnes of grapes have been processed in Kakheti. Nearly 15 thousand winegrowers have delivered their harvest. 99.3% of the processed grapes - 217 847 tonnes - are of high and medium quality. Only 0.7% of the grapes delivered - 1 678 tonnes - are of low quality and unripe.
Of the processed grapes, 104.3 thousand tonnes are Saperavi, nearly 100.8 thousand tonnes are Rkatsiteli, and the remainder consists of various grape varieties.
The state-owned LLC Harvest Management Company is accepting grapes from winegrowers at 22 locations across various municipalities in Kakheti.
The grape harvest in Kakheti is at its peak. The projected harvest is approximately 320 000 tonnes.
To ensure an organised harvest and the sale of the entire harvest, the Government of Georgia has decided that, in the event of a surplus, every winegrower will be able to sell their harvest. For this purpose, LLC Harvest Management Company is accepting grapes grown in Kakheti from individuals under the established conditions:
---The price per kg of Saperavi with a sugar content of at least 20% is GEL 1.50; from 16% to 20% - GEL 1.00; and below 16% - GEL 0.50.
---For Rkatsiteli and other wine grapes, the price per kg with a sugar content of at least 19% is GEL 1.30; from 16% to 19% - GEL 0.90; and below 16% - GEL 0.50.
