The EU Integration, the Foreign Relations, and the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committees discussed the draft 2027 state budget at a joint meeting

The EU Integration, the Foreign Relations, and the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committees discussed the Draft Law on the 2027 State Budget of Georgia at a joint meeting. The draft was presented by Giorgi Kakauridze, First Deputy Finance Minister.

According to the draft, the forecast for real economic growth in 2027 is 5.0%; nominal GDP is expected to increase by 8.9% to GEL 126.4 billion; GDP per capita is projected to reach USD 12.0 thousand by the end of 2027; the inflation rate is expected to return to the target level of 3.0% by the end of the following year; the current account deficit is projected at 4% of GDP in 2027; government debt is expected to stand at 31.6%; while tax revenues of the unified budget are planned at GEL 29.5 billion in 2027.

As Giorgi Kakauridze noted, total receipts of the unified budget will amount to GEL 37.531 billion, more than 85% of which will comprise revenues. Revenues will exceed GEL 32.09 billion.

According to the First Deputy Minister, expenditure under the 2027 budget is planned at GEL 37.562 billion. Of the total expenditures in 2027, GEL 25.424 billion will be allocated to financing current expenditures, which is GEL 2.034 billion more than the projected figure for 2026.

Giorgi Kakauridze briefed the committees on the main areas in which current expenditures are increasing. According to him, funding for environmental protection and agriculture programmes has increased by GEL 90 million.

According to the draft, total receipts of the 2027 State Budget of Georgia amount to GEL 32,166.0 million, while expenditures amount to GEL 32,071.5 million.

Speaking about expenditures under the State Budget, the reporter stated that GEL 1,015.0 million has been allocated to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, including: GEL 41.5 million for environmental supervision; GEL 34.2 million for the development and management of the protected areas system; GEL 29.1 million for the development and management of the forestry system; GEL 34.9 million for forecasting, assessment, prevention and monitoring in the field of environmental protection; GEL 5.8 million for nuclear and radiation safety and the management of radioactive waste facilities; and GEL 50.4 million for solid waste management.

According to Giorgi Kakauridze, GEL 232.8 million has been allocated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2027.The Committees supported the Draft Law on the 2027 State Budget of Georgia.
