We support Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, and naturally, we express and will continue to express this position everywhere. Foreign Minister of Georgia said this in the interview with “Imedi LIVE”.
“There is nothing new about this. Our country has maintained this position for years and will continue to do so. However, we have seen many attempts to portray Georgia from a different perspective. Over the past five years, there have been numerous efforts to label Georgia in various ways. Part of these attempts involved what could be described as a policy of isolating Georgia. While this may seem somewhat absurd, the reality is that Georgia was not invited to many forums, preventing us from voicing our position and allowing certain narratives to be promoted unchallenged”, - said Maka Botchorishvili.
As she added, there were specific reasons behind such actions and that the threats Georgia has faced - and continues to face - have become increasingly evident in light of developments in the region.
“We have spoken about this many times, including the interests that existed with regard to Georgia. Today, there can be little doubt about how real those threats were, and they have not disappeared as long as tensions remain in the region and the war continues. We must, of course, be very careful about how we position ourselves and the actions we take, so that our country does not face major security challenges”, - noted the Minister.
