Law enforcement officers have arrested 11 people on charges of drug crimes - a particularly large amount of various types of drugs has been seized

Employees of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested 11 people at different times on charges of drug-related crimes.

Georgian and foreign citizens have been arrested on charges of illegal purchase and storage of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in a particularly large amount, facilitation of sale, and illegal sowing, growing, and cultivation of plants containing narcotic drugs.

As a result of complex investigative actions conducted by law enforcement officers, it was established that the defendants were involved in a scheme for the illegal sale of narcotic drugs. They were storing narcotics in various places for the purpose of further sale, after which they sent the relevant coordinates and photographs to interested persons.

As a result of the defendants' personal search, and search activities held in residential homes and vehicles, as well as during the investigative experiment, law enforcement officers seized a particularly large amount of narcotics prepared for sale from the places indicated by them as evidence, including: 192 packages of “Methadone”, as well as “Suboxine”, “Ketamine”, “Hashish”, “Tetrahydrocannabinol”, 150 pills containing “Pregabalin”, more than a kilogram of “marijuana” and the plant “cannabis”.

Among the detainees is a person, for exposing of whom, law enforcement officers replaced a parcel sent to his name and seized a particularly large amount of psychotropic substances. As a result of the investigative actions, the police also seized materials necessary for packaging narcotics and money allegedly received as a result of the sale of narcotics.

The investigation is underway under Articles 260, 261, 19-260, 260-4 and 265-1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, envisioning up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
