Ministry held a working meeting with Apple Producers and Exporters.

The Deputies of the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Lasha Dolidze and Lasha Avaliani, met with apple producers and exporters.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of apple marketing and exports, sectoral needs and challenges, and prospects for further development. The apple producers highlighted the issue of marketing non-standard apples, commonly referred to as “industrial-grade” apples.

“During our meeting with apple producers, we discussed this year’s harvest, the current situation in the sector, existing challenges, and opportunities for further development. We addressed several important areas, including the use of modern technologies, labour-related issues, the production of high-quality products, and the marketing of non-standard apples. We also discussed opportunities to expand apple exports and the importance of diversifying export markets. We agreed to continue our active cooperation on the areas that will contribute to the development of the sector, improve the quality of locally produced apples, and ultimately increase the income of apple producers”, - said Lasha Dolidze.

Notably, apples are one of Georgia’s important agricultural export products. During the latest marketing year, apple exports increased significantly in both volume and value. In the 2025/2026 marketing year, Georgia exported 24.6 thousand tonnes of apples, amounting to USD 18.6 million. Compared with the previous marketing year, exported apple volume increased by 36% (6.5 thousand tonnes), while value rose by 63% (USD 7 million). The average export price of apples stood at USD 0.75 per kilogram.

Russia remains the principal export destination for Georgian apples, accounting for 23 thousand tonnes of exports. In addition, 1,037 tonnes of apples were exported to Türkiye, 170 tonnes to Belarus, and 147 tonnes to Armenia, with the remainder exported to other markets.

From August 1 through 27 September of the current year, Georgia exported 381 tonnes of apples worth USD 301,000. The average export price was USD 0.79 per kilogram, 2% higher than the figure recorded during the same period last year.
