Parliament of Georgia, through an expedited procedure, supported amendment to the "Tax Code of Georgia" in its 1st reading with 82 votes.

The bill abolishes the current multi-tiered system (the 40,000 GEL threshold and its corresponding rates) and establishes a uniform income threshold of 100,000 GEL, within which a physical person is fully exempted from property tax.

The aforementioned amendment applies to the property tax that, in accordance with the "Tax Code of Georgia", must be declared in 2026. According to the rapporteur, Paata Kvizhinadze, Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee, the change will affect 81,000 families. The legislative amendment will come into force immediately upon publication.
