Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia met Alain Berset, Secretary-General of the Council of Europe.

During the meeting, held in New York within the framework of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), discussions focused on the long-standing, fruitful cooperation between Georgia and the Council of Europe. The organization’s significant support towards the country`s democratic development, protection of human rights and the rule of law was emphasized.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed Georgia’s commitment to the principles of the Council of Europe and noted that Georgia will continue to foster dialogue and the development of multilateral cooperation in the future.

Irakli Kobakhidze stated that the Government of Georgia attaches great importance to constructive dialogue with the Council of Europe and stands ready to continue cooperation based on mutual respect.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Maka Botchorishvili, Head of Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani and Permanent Representative of Georgia to the United Nations David Bakradze.
