Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia met the Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Ignazio Cassis.

During the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation between Georgia and the Swiss Confederation based on mutual respect and shared values, both in bilateral and multilateral formats. The positive dynamics in the development of political, economic, people-to-people and parliamentary ties were emphasized.

The Prime Minister thanked the Swiss Confederation for supporting Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders, as well as its non-recognition policy toward the occupied territories. The key role of Switzerland as a mediator in the absence of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Russia was explicitly highlighted.

The discussion also touched upon Ignazio Cassis’s upcoming visit to Georgia in October in his capacity as the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office. It was noted that Georgia remains a constructive and responsible OSCE participating state, supporting dialogue and respecting the principles of international law.

The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Maka Botchorishvili, Head of Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani and Permanent Representative of Georgia to the UN David Bakradze.
