Georgia has recorded one of the highest average economic growth rates in the world over the past 5 years - the main challenge is to translate this performance into sustainable, inclusive and long-term development. Such a statement the Prime Minister of Georgia made at the Sustainable Development Goals Moment 2026 event, held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session.

“Over the past 5 years, Georgia has recorded one of the highest average economic growth rates in the world.

However, economic performance is only one part of the overall picture. Our main challenge is to ensure that these results translate into sustainable, inclusive and long-term development. The Sustainable Development Goals help us turn this aspiration into practical steps and provide a framework for our national priorities - from economic development, agriculture and tourism to energy efficiency, climate action, the responsible use of natural resources, and the development of green and innovative sectors.

At the heart of all these efforts is the principle that no one should be left behind in development. We must ensure that development reaches not only our cities but also people living in rural areas and those who face the greatest barriers to accessing opportunities.

That is why reducing inequalities between urban and rural areas is one of the key priorities of the new 2026–2030 United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for Georgia”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
