Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia met Eugene Gan, CEO of Changi Airports International and Hazem Ben-Gacem, Founder and CEO of BlueFive Capital.

The meeting focused on opportunities for cooperation in the aviation sector. Discussions covered the rapid growth of Georgia`s aviation and tourism sectors, the entry of new airlines into the market and the development project for a new international airport in Tbilisi, to be located in Vaziani. Changi Airports International expressed interest in cooperation on the project.

According to the project, the airport will have an annual capacity of up to 20 million passengers.

The Prime Minister noted that the Government of Georgia attaches particular importance to partnerships with global investment and aviation companies.

According to Irakli Kobakhidze, last year Georgia recorded 7.8 million visits by international travelers, while proceeds from tourism amounted to 4.7 billion USD. International air connectivity has also expanded significantly. Today, around 80 airlines operate flights from Georgia to over 140 international destinations.

The parties expressed their readiness to cooperate on sharing international experience in the aviation sector and discussed opportunities for further developing their partnership. The meeting was attended by Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili and Head of Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani.
