The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged 11 individuals, including foreign citizens, with facilitating the illegal purchase, storage, importation and sale of large and especially large quantities of narcotic drugs.

The investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that the defendants illegally purchased and stored a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs “Alpha PVP”, “MDMA”, “Buprenorphine”, “Marijuana” and the plant “Cannabis” for the purpose of facilitating their sale, which were seized by law enforcement officers as a result of the measures taken. Also, narcotic drugs and items necessary for packaging narcotic substances located at various locations were seized within the framework of the investigative experiment.

One defendant illegally sold 8.6718 grams of the illegally purchased and stored narcotic drug “Alpha-PVP” for 1,800 GEL.

The detainees are charged with Article 260, Part 1 (illegal purchase and storage of narcotic drugs), Article 260, Part 2, Subparagraphs “a”, “a” and “a” (illegal purchase and storage of narcotic drugs in large and especially large quantities), Article 260, Part 5, Subparagraph “a” and “a” (facilitation of illegal sale of narcotic drugs in large and especially large quantities), Article 265, Part 3, Subparagraph “a” (illegal planting, growing or cultivating a plant containing narcotic drugs in an especially large quantity), Article 260, Part 5, Subparagraph “e” and “a” (subparagraph “a”) of Part 6 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. (Illegal sale of narcotic drugs in a particularly large amount) was introduced, which provides for up to 20 years or life imprisonment as the type and extent of punishment.

Based on the prosecutor’s request, the defendants have already been sentenced to imprisonment as a preventive measure.
