The issues discussed at the joint meeting were assessed by Giorgi Volski, Chair of the Interim Commission and First Vice Speaker of the Parliament.
“We discussed an exceptionally important issue and heard interesting information from the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia.
At the meeting, together with representatives of various agencies, we discussed how the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, non-governmental organizations, and the Ministry of IDPs, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia are addressing healthcare issues. The meeting also focused on IDPs and people belonging to all ethnic groups who come from the occupied territories. Very positive trends were identified. The involvement of the opposition in the discussion was also quite constructive. We placed the emphasis on the humanitarian aspect - on the considerable efforts undertaken by the State as a whole and, in particular, by the Government of the ARepublic of Abkhazia to protect people’s health, regardless of their ethnic background and despite the extremely difficult political situation existing in the region and the world.
The recommendations that we will adopt in the near future will enable us to enhance coordination among the agencies and overcome the existing obstacles in this regard. This meeting will become a prerequisite for the positive resolution of many issues”, - said Giorgi Volski.
