Mamuka Baratashvili has been appointed Head of the Revenue Service (RS) of the Ministry of Finance, while Merab Gamkrelidze has been appointed Head of the Financial Investigation Service (FIS) of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia.

Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia met the newly-appointed heads of the two agencies subordinated to MOF together with Lasha Khutsishvili, Minister of Finance of Georgia.

The Head of Government of Georgia congratulated them on their appointments and wished them every success.

Mamuka Baratashvili has many years of experience working within the Ministry of Finance (MOF) system. Among other positions, he served as First Deputy Head of the Revenue Service from 2020 to 2021. From 2011 to 2020, he headed the Tax and Customs Policy Department of the Ministry of Finance. At different times, he also served as Head of the Disputes Department and Head of the Legal Department of the Revenue Service.

Until his appointment, Merab Gamkrelidze served as Head of the Legal Department of the Revenue Service. He has many years of experience working in the FIS.

Over the years, he served as Deputy Head of the FIS, Head of the Adjara and Guria Division of the Investigation Department, and Deputy Head of the Tbilisi Main Division of the Investigation Department. He also served as Deputy Head of the Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau and worked as Deputy Head of the Department for Relations with Regions of the Administration of the Government of Georgia.
