Today, we are presenting the candidacy of Mr. Tamaz Borashvili to the Parliament of Georgia for the position of the Head of the State Security Service of Georgia. Prime Minister of Georgia said this during a briefing at the Government Administration.
As he noted, Borashvili has more than 20 years of experience in the law enforcement system.
“Tamaz Borashvili began his career in the state security system at the lowest level and progressed through various positions in the Counterintelligence Department. From 2017 to 2022, he served as First Deputy Head and Head of the General Inspection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. In 2022, he returned to the State Security Service, where he served as Head of the Tbilisi Main Division of the State Security Department and Director of the State Security Department. This year, he was appointed Deputy Head of the State Security Service.
I would like to emphasise that over the past two decades, Tamaz Borashvili will be the first career official from the state security system to assume the position of Head of the Service. This will play an important role in further strengthening the system institutionally.
I am sure that the Parliament of Georgia will support Borashvili’s candidacy. I wish Mr. Tamaz Borashvili success in his position as Head of the State Security Service of Georgia”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
