As a result of a complex investigation, officers of Batumi Police Division of Adjara Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested one person on charges of fraudulently appropriating a large amount of money.

The investigation established that the accused person, in order to illegally appropriate a large amount of money, promised a Georgian citizen living abroad that he would help him purchase an apartment in Batumi, in return for which he gradually transferred various amounts of money.

The accused person failed to fulfill his promise and, through deception, illegally appropriated a large amount of money belonging to the victim - a total of up to 16,300 GEL. As a result of the conducted operational measures and investigative actions, law enforcement officers arrested the accused person based on the judge’s ruling.

The investigation is underway under Article 180, Part III of the Criminal Code of Georgia, envisioning the imprisonment for a term of up to 9 years.
