The Prosecutor’s Office has brought new charges against Juansher Burchuladze and Vasil Mkheidze. However, “in consideration of the quality of their cooperation with the investigation”, a plea agreement was reached with the defendants.
The new charge concerns the fact of group bribe-taking in an especially large amount by prior agreement, as well as aiding and abetting bribe-taking.
Irakli Garibashvili has already been charged in connection with the same criminal episode.
As a penalty, Burchuladze was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment, of which he will serve 3 years in a penitentiary institution, while 2 years will be counted as a probation period. He was also ordered to pay a fine in the amount of GEL 1 million. As for Vasil Mkheidze, he was sentenced to 4 years and 2 months of imprisonment, of which he will serve one year and 2 months in a penitentiary institution and was ordered to pay a fine in the amount of GEL 100,000.
Burchuladze and Mkheidze have already been convicted in another criminal case and have had their respective sentences determined.
