In August of this year, employees of the National Forestry Agency detected 25 environmental violations, 21 cases involved illegal logging, including the transportation of illegally obtained timber.

As a result of the identified violations, a total of up to 65 cubic meters of firewood and industrial timber of various species were seized and stored at the National Forestry Agency's operational log yards.

Out of the illegal logging cases, 4 violations were recorded in Imereti, 3 in Samtskhe-Javakheti, 1 in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti, 3 in Kvemo Kartli, 4 in Guria, 2 in Kakheti, 1 in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, and 3 in the Shida Kartli region.

Additionally, 4 cases of unauthorized occupation of state forest land were uncovered in the Samtskhe-Javakheti and Shida Kartli regions. During the first eight months of this year, National Forestry Agency employees have detected 464 cases of illegal logging nationwide.
