Governor of the National Bank of Georgia Natia Turnava and Vice Governor Nino Jeladze held a working meeting with the Chairman of the Fintech Association of Georgia, David Kikvidze.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of the fintech industry, key issues relevant to the sector, existing challenges, and future development prospects.

It was noted that the fintech sector is one of the fastest-growing areas in Georgia. Payment service providers and virtual asset service providers, which represent an important part of the modern financial ecosystem, are experiencing particularly rapid growth.

Their operations facilitate the introduction of innovative financial products and services, provide consumers with fast, secure, and accessible services, and drive both competition and technological advancement within the financial sector.

Special attention was given to issues critical to the sector`s continued development. The participants discussed the regulatory environment, as well as opportunities to further strengthen cooperation among the National Bank, the Banking Association, and the Fintech Association on various initiatives. Such cooperation will support innovation, safeguard consumer interests, and ensure the sustainable development of the financial sector. Furthermore, it will strengthen cooperation between these associations and the banking sector.

The National Bank of Georgia once again reaffirmed its readiness to maintain an active dialogue with the fintech industry in order to foster the development of a modern, competitive, and innovative financial ecosystem in Georgia, in line with international best practices.
