The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture hosted a presentation on the activities of the Society of Iveria [SoI], a non-entrepreneurial (non-commercial) legal entity (NNLE).

David Songulashvili, delivered opening remarks, emphasizing the significance of the Society’s work and the projects preserving Georgia’s national values and raising public awareness: “The SoI has implemented numerous projects of great importance to our country. I want to express my sincere gratitude to the organization’s leadership and to every individual who has been actively involved in this work over the years. The projects presented today once again demonstrate the vital importance of preserving, studying, and passing on our national values, cultural heritage, and history to future generations. I am pleased to see so many people engaged in this mission, and I am confident that the Society will continue to implement many more significant initiatives in the future”.

The presentation was delivered by Giorgi Tavadze, Chairman of the SoI, who introduced the audience to the organization’s principal areas of activity. The Society’s first large-scale initiative is the construction of the Cathedral of the Iveron Icon of the Most Holy Mother of God on Mount Makhata. As part of the monastery and educational complex, work is also underway to establish a modern scientific research and cultural-educational museum center.

During the event, the Society presented an overview of its completed and ongoing projects, including initiatives dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Georgia’s national heritage, publications on Georgian Christian culture and history, educational programmes, and a broad range of cultural and scholarly initiatives. Film Director and founder of the SoI, Merab Kokochashvili, addressed the audience.

The SoI was established in 2010 with the blessing of His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia. Moreover, the Society’s activities encompass cultural and educational initiatives, support for scholarly publications, the preservation and promotion of Georgia’s historical heritage, and the advancement of the nation's traditional values.

The First Deputy Minister, Nino Tandilashvili, Deputies of the Minister, Solomon Pavliashvili, Lasha Avaliani, Lasha Dolidze, Zurab Ezugbaia, Giorgi Tskrialashvili, and other representatives of the Ministry, attended the event.
