We are awaiting Washington`s official position regarding the reset of relations with Georgia. Our message is very clear - we want to renew the strategic partnership with a specific roadmap, starting from a clean slate. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia in in response to a question about the provision on Georgia in the US National Defense Authorization Act [NDAA] bill.
As he noted, the mentioned provision was included in the congressional act at the initiative of Joe Wilson, which is unserious and laughable.
"Such a provision is absolutely laughable. As you know, the initiative belongs to Joe Wilson, and it was included in the congressional act based on this one man`s initiative. Therefore, it is neither interesting nor serious for us. Moreover, yesterday Iran was presented as having a very deep presence in Georgia, and today that representation from the Iranian side has completely disappeared - just a small ironic aside. Joe Wilson`s initiatives and the amendments introduced through his initiatives are absolutely not interesting. We are awaiting Washington`s official position regarding the reset of relations with Georgia. Our message is very clear - we want to renew the strategic partnership with a specific roadmap, starting from a clean slate, and we are waiting for America’s official position on this. The remaining details, Joe Wilson`s initiatives, are of no interest to us", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
