The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Nino Tandilashvili, has been elected Chair of the Ethics and Audit Committee of the Green Climate Fund (GCF).

Notably, Tandilashvili assumes this position, succeeding the representative of France.

Following her election, the First Deputy Minister expressed her appreciation to her predecessor for their dedicated service and thanked the Committee members for their confidence in and support of her candidacy.

The Ethics and Audit Committee is a standing body of the Green Climate Fund responsible for overseeing compliance with the Fund’s ethics and conflict-of-interest policies, enhancing financial oversight, monitoring internal audit processes, and providing recommendations to support the Fund’s governance and accountability framework.

The Committee comprises representatives of both developed and developing countries, who also serve as members of the Green Climate Fund Board; thus, Nino Tandilashvili represents the countries of Eastern Europe on the GCF Board.

The election of Georgia’s representative to chair one of the Green Climate Fund’s principal committees marks another important milestone in strengthening the country’s international standing and role in advancing the global climate agenda.

Established in 2010 under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Green Climate Fund (GCF) is one of the world's largest international climate finance mechanisms, supporting projects that promote climate change mitigation and adaptation in developing countries.
