For the first time, an application for consent to plant a vineyard was submitted to the National Wine Agency from the Imereti region. The applicant, Gocha Berekashvili, fully submitted all documentation required by law and received consent to plant the vineyard within the established deadlines.

“Introducing the new regulation was necessary, because in my old vineyard, whose seedlings I had purchased from a private individual, the rootstock developed diseases. A seedling purchased from a qualified nursery gives me a guarantee that the vine will be healthy, that I will get quality grapes from it, and that the wine will also be of high quality”, - noted Gocha Berekashvili.

He plans to plant a vineyard of the Tsolikouri grape variety on a 1,200-square-meter plot in the Tkibuli municipality.

We remind you that consent from the National Wine Agency is required only in the case of planting a commercial/enterprise vineyard. Consent is also required when restoring or renewing a commercial vineyard, when the agrotechnical measures involve uprooting and replacing, thickening, or regrafting with other varieties at least 50% of the vines.

Consent to plant a vineyard is issued free of charge. The procedure is simple and transparent, and the deadline for reviewing the application and making a decision is 20 working days.
