We had a friendly and constructive meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia. We agreed to expand political relations, cooperation and diplomatic efforts to ensure that our partnership continues to develop over the long term. President of Turkmenistan said this at a joint briefing with the Prime Minister of Georgia.
"Georgia is one of Turkmenistan`s key economic partners. Turkmenistan highly values Georgia`s constructive position at the international level and recognizes the important contribution Georgia is making to positive development. I would like to express my gratitude to the Prime Minister of Georgia. We are pleased that cooperation mechanisms with international organizations - particularly the United Nations - are expanding.
During the meeting, particular attention was paid to elevating our relations to a qualitatively new level. As part of the visit, at the Turkmenistan-Georgia Business Forum, we discussed various topics, including the exchange of manufactured products and noted that our countries have significant potential to increase trade volumes. We attach particular importance to business relations and strengthening economic cooperation, and we would like our economic ties to become even more diverse and comprehensive.
The South Caucasus is one of the key segments of the route connecting the Caspian and Caucasus regions. In this context, our joint transport and logistics portfolio includes highly promising projects, such as the Lapis Lazuli Corridor, which also involves Afghanistan, Azerbaijan and Türkiye, as well as the Caspian-Black Sea Corridor [Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania].
Our countries participate in the TRACECA transport corridor and we have agreed to continue working within the framework of these projects, both at the bilateral level and with other participating parties. Negotiations are underway regarding the utilization of the Caspian and Black Sea port infrastructure to achieve mutual benefits. We seek to establish partnerships in the fields of energy, telecommunications, industry, manufacturing, textiles, construction, and etc.
The Turkmen and Georgian peoples share historic ties and these relations are now entering a new context. We attach particular importance to cooperation on humanitarian issues and have agreed to fully support the desire of our peoples to become even more familiar with each other's rich culture and heritage. We also wish to create favorable conditions for cooperation between Turkmenistan and Georgia in the field of arts. Agreements have been signed in the scientific and educational spheres, as well as with regard to expanding cooperation between universities. This visit coincides with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Turkmenistan. We are very pleased with the results achieved during our meetings with representatives of the Georgian government. We hope that these outcomes will further strengthen cooperation between Turkmenistan and Georgia. I want to wish the friendly people of Georgia peace, prosperity and success", - said Serdar Berdimuhamedow.
