The National Environmental Agency continuously monitors the water quality of the Black Sea at 14 points every month.
Samples taken from the Black Sea are sent for analysis to the National Environmental Agency`s accredited laboratory for atmospheric air, water and soil analysis, which is equipped with high-precision instruments and fully meets modern standards.
The studies determine hydrobiological and chemical parameters, including 13 heavy metals, total petroleum hydrocarbons, 16 polyaromatic hydrocarbons, as well as the concentration of other physicochemical parameters.
According to laboratory studies conducted by the Agency so far, the water quality of the Black Sea along the entire perimeter of the Georgian coast is within the norm. It is worth noting that the National Environmental Agency, in accordance with the EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive, actively continues to work on improving the monitoring system.
The results of laboratory research conducted by the National Environmental Agency are published on the agency`s website.
