Lasha Khutsishvili, Minister of Finance of Georgia met Alkis Vryenios Drakinos, Regional Director for the Caucasus at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) whose term of office is coming to an end. The meeting was attended by Thomas Kairis, who will assume the position on September 1, 2026.
The parties reviewed the projects currently being implemented in Georgia with EBRD support, as well as broader topics related to ongoing cooperation.
The Minister of Finance briefed the EBRD representatives on Georgia’s current macroeconomic indicators and medium-term economic outlook.
Particular attention was paid to regionally significant connectivity and energy projects. The discussion covered ongoing and planned road, railway and port infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing connectivity along the Middle Corridor, as well as the strategic importance of the Black Sea Submarine Electricity Cable project and investment in its development.
Lasha Khutsishvili thanked Alkis Vryenios Drakinos for his contribution and dedicated work in Georgia, expressing confidence that the active and productive cooperation with the EBRD would continue under the Bank’s new Regional Director. Ekaterine Guntsadze, Deputy Minister of Finance, also attended the meeting.
