A criminal case has been opened for the premeditated murder of Giorgi Kvaratskhelia in 2015. Two individuals will be charged in this criminal case.
We would like to provide the public with information about the circumstances and facts established as a result of the recent intensive investigative activities conducted in the aforementioned criminal case.
An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office determined that Davit Dekanosidze and Tornike Kacharava, due to a past disagreement with the latter's brother, intended to take revenge on G. Kvaratskhelia and murder him in a group.
On December 25, 2015, Tornike Kacharava, armed with illegally acquired 7.65 caliber firearms, and Davit Dekanosidze, also armed with illegally acquired 9 mm caliber firearms, arrived at Giorgi Kvaratskhelia\s residential building located at 3b Guram Panjikidze Street in Tbilisi. At approximately 20:36, while Giorgi Kvaratskhelia was in the yard, the defendants fired multiple shots in his direction, as a result of which Giorgi Kvaratskhelia received a gunshot wound to the head with injuries to the skull bones and brain, and despite the assistance provided, he died at the medical facility.
The defendants, Tornike Kacharava, will be charged in a penitentiary institution, and Davit Dekanosidze will be tried in absentia under Article 109, Part 2, Subparagraph "e" of the Criminal Code of Georgia (old edition, premeditated murder committed by a group), which provides for up to 17 years of imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment.
The Prosecutor’s Office shall apply to the court within the time limit established by law for the use of detention as a preventive measure against the accused. Davit Dekanosidze will be put on the wanted list.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs is continuing its investigation into the criminal case, with the aim of identifying other individuals involved in the case.
