The Prosecutor`s Office has charged 4 individuals with facilitating the illegal purchase, storage and sale of large and especially large amounts of narcotics

The Prosecutor`s Office of Georgia has charged 4 individuals, including a foreign citizen, with facilitating the illegal purchase, storage and sale of large and especially large amounts of narcotic drugs.

The investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs [MIA] established that the defendants illegally purchased and stored a large and especially large amount of the narcotic drug "marijuana" for the purpose of facilitating its sale. As a result of the measures taken, officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the MIA seized the aforementioned narcotic drugs. Also, items necessary for packaging narcotic substances were seized from the residence of two defendants, and narcotic drugs placed by two defendants from different locations.

The detainees were charged under Article 260, Part 2, Subparagraph "b" and Part 3, Subparagraph "a" (illegal purchase and storage of large and especially large quantities of narcotic drugs, in a group), Article 260, Part 2, Subparagraph “b” and Part 3, Subparagraph "a" (facilitation of illegal sale of large and especially large quantities of narcotic drugs, in a group) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for up to 20 years or life imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment.

Based on the prosecutor’s motion, the court sentenced the defendants to imprisonment as a preventive measure.
