In 2025, the average salary reached GEL 2,283, compared to GEL 1,191 in 2020. This is another proof that economic growth directly impacts the social well-being of the population - Kobakhidze

Over the past year, the average salary in our country has increased, while in 2020 the average salary was 1,971 GEL, in 2025 it reached 2,283 GEL. The Prime Minister of Georgia said this during his annual address to the Parliament.

As he noted, this means that within one year, the average salary grew by 312 GEL, which is also a quite impressive figure.

“I want to remind you that in 2020, the average salary was 1,191 GEL, and over a 5-year period, the average salary has doubled. This is another undeniable sign that economic growth directly impacts the social well-being of the population.

It is also very important to compare the growth of the average salary with inflation rates. Looking at the figures for the last three years, consumer prices in Georgia increased by 6.4% during this period. Specifically, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 9.7% over the 3 years.

In the same period, the average salary of the population increased by 47.9%. This means that we have an optimal inflation rate, and at the same time, the growth of the average salary over these three years outpaced inflation by 7.5 times, which is fundamentally important. Naturally, economic growth has no value if there is excessive inflation. In this case, these data directly confirm that the growth of the average salary outpaced inflation by 7.5 times”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
