As a result of operational measures and investigative actions, officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested 20 people at various times in Tbilisi, Guria, Adjara and Kakheti on charges of illegal purchase and storage of especially large amount of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances by a group with prior agreement, as well as facilitating their sale.

Based on a judge`s ruling, the police carried out several controlled purchases of narcotic drugs from one of the accused and secretly recorded the process.

During the personal search and search activities held in residential homes, and from the places indicated by them, law enforcement officers also seized as evidence especially large amount of narcotics prepared for sale: "Methadone", "Alpha PVP" and "Dried Marijuana".

The investigation established that some of the accused persons were illegally cultivating a plant containing narcotics in a specially arranged greenhouse in a particularly large amount.

As a result of the investigative actions, materials necessary for packaging narcotics were also seized.

The investigation is underway under Articles 19-260, 260, 260-4, 260-3, 261, 262, 265 and 273 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisions up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
