Georgia is an integral part of the Middle Corridor, therefore the Government is ready to deepen partnership with Serbia in order to fully utilise the transit and trade potential between Europe and Asia. Such a statement the Prime Minister of Georgia made at the joint briefing with the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić.

“At the meeting, we also discussed trade, economic and sectoral cooperation. It was noted that there is great potential in this direction, which should be fully utilized. In this regard, the ongoing process of working on a free trade agreement between the governments of Georgia and Serbia is welcome.

It should be noted that we have made great progress in this process, there are several issues to be agreed upon.

After that, both sides will be ready to sign a free trade agreement, which will be mutually beneficial for the economic development of our countries and also for further deepening economic ties between our countries. This agreement would create new opportunities for business, contribute to the growth of trade turnover between the countries, attract investments to both sides, and move economic relations to a new stage.

We also talked about the importance of developing transport and logistics ties. Georgia is an integral part of the “Middle Corridor” and we are ready to deepen our partnership with Serbia in order to fully utilize the transit and trade potential between Europe and Asia”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
