Georgian citizen illegally detained by the Russian occupation forces near the Sachkhere municipality is free and is currently on the territory controlled by the central government.

“In the process of releasing the illegally detained Georgian citizen, both the “hotline” mechanism operating with the direct involvement of the EU Monitoring Mission [EUMM] in Georgia and all relevant instruments available to the central government were actively utilized.

The central government of Georgia, together with international partners, continues to actively work towards the release of all Georgian citizens who remain in illegal detention in the occupied territories”, - reads the statement issued by the State Security Service of Georgia.
