Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) met with students of Akaki Tsereteli State University. Giorgi Sharabidze provided a detailed overview of the importance of elections and the role of the election administration in this process, the history of elections in Georgia, and the key developments related to the introduction of electronic voting technologies. He also spoke extensively about disinformation and its impact, the election administration’s strategy, and the activities implemented to counter disinformation.

“We hosted students from various faculties of Kutaisi Akaki Tsereteli State University at the CEC. Within the framework of the meeting, we discussed different electoral procedures and demonstrated the technological process. Numerous questions were raised during the meeting, and I am pleased that we had the opportunity to answer all the questions that were of interest to the students. Meetings of this kind are important to ensure that young people become well-informed voters in the future”, - said Giorgi Sharabidze.

The concluding part of the meeting was dedicated to a discussion session. Giorgi Sharabidze provided comprehensive answers to the questions raised by the students.

The students also visited the Central Election Commission’s operational storage facility. They had the opportunity to test in practice the functioning of electronic voting technologies, including voter verification, voting, and vote-counting devices.

The meeting was held within the framework of the memorandum signed between the CEC and Akaki Tsereteli State University. Raising awareness among young people on electoral matters represents one of the priority areas of the election administration. For this purpose, the CEC has been closely cooperating with various educational institutions for years. The memorandum between the election administration and Akaki Tsereteli State University was signed in 2025.
