Benjamin Netanyahu has commented on Israel’s expanded ground operations in southern Lebanon, writes Sky News.
“We are intensifying our operations in Lebanon”, the prime minister wrote on social media alongside a video of his opening remarks at a security cabinet meeting.
In the video, Netanyahu elaborated on the operation, saying the military was operating with “large forces on the ground” in order to take control of “strategic areas”.
Earlier, an Israeli military official had confirmed that the armed forces had expanded their ground operations beyond areas they previously occupied in Lebanon. This is despite a ceasefire remaining in place, with Israel claiming it is acting to remove threats from the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia.
